Summary of the Program
This course provides entry level training for students interested in pursuing further study and/or employment in the plumbing industry. It develops skills through a wide range of tasks and the use of various materials and tools for the plumbing industry. The focus is on giving you the hands-on experience needed to gain an apprenticeship. Students will learn basic construction and plumbing skill sets as well as basic welding and sheet metal work to enable broader opportunities. It comprises classroom based study and workshop activities and four weeks of self organised work experience. The foundation units are nationally accredited competencies and can be counted towards plumbing apprentice training. The course is completed over one year.

Approximately 30 SACE credits.

One day per week for the full year commencing February.

Structured Work Placement
4 weeks within the year. This work placement is organised by the student.
Special Requirements
Steel capped safety boots.
Anticipated Cost per Student
$1,996 (invoiced to the school and costs split over 4 school terms).
Payment Options
An invoice will be sent to the school and the school will then follow up with the student/parent for payment. Students should speak to their school VET Coordinator to enquire about any possible subsidy.

Written and Practical Assessments.
Course Pathways/Pre-requisites
It is a requirement that Cert I in Construction or equivalent be successfully completed prior to enrolment in this course. As a pathway, successful completion can lead to a plumbing career as it provides participants with an introduction to the plumbing industry and sets that base for gaining an apprenticeship.
