Certificate I in Construction (Plumbing)

Full School Year Course

Summary of the Program

This qualification is a basic introduction to an apprenticeship and is offered to Year 11 and 12 students. The qualification provides grounding in safety and basic skills and knowledge for work in any construction discipline. It comprises of classroom based study and workshop activities, one major written project and four weeks of self organised work experience. This certificate is completed over one year and provides students with an overview of the construction industry.

Number of SACE Units

Approximately 30 SACE credits.

When

One day per week for the full year commencing February.

Where

PEER VEET, 1042 Port Road, Albert Park  SA  5014.

PEER is located near Bus Stop 27.  The closest train station is Cheltenham.

Structured Work Placement

4 weeks within the year.  This work placement is organised by the student.

Special Requirements

Steel capped safety boots.

Anticipated Cost per Student

$1,996 (invoiced to the school and costs split over 4 school terms).

Payment Options

An invoice will be sent to the school and the school will then follow up with the student/parent for payment.  Students should speak to their school VET Coordinator to enquire about any possible subsidy.

Methods for Successful Completion

Written and Practical Assessments.

Course Pathways/Pre-requisites

Whilst there are no pre-requisite requirements for this course it is recommended that all students have a good understanding of both English and Mathematics.

Future training in this area include a Pre-Apprenticeship programme or an Apprenticeship.
