Course Aim
This course provides the participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to apply for an Open Cablers Registration and to install communications cabling to the requirements of the Australian Communications & Media Authority (ACMA) technical standards.

Course Content
This 5 day accelerated course covers modules:
- NTC004 Regulatory Framework 2 - ACMA’s role and the telecommunications wiring rules.
- NTC014 Basic Telephony - principles and operation of a standard telephone.
- NTC017 Switching Systems Overview - switching system overview and earthing.
- NTC111 Telecommunications Cabling Installations - practical wiring and recording skills.
On successful completion, applicants with the necessary pre-requisites will be issued with Competency Statement ICTTC137A.
Pre-Requisites
This is an accelerated course for applicants with trade level experience installing building cabling (electrical, data, alarms etc.) and the background training detailed in the ACMA document “Pathways to ACMA Cabling Provider Rules Cabler Registration” (May 06 edition).
Applicants who are Trainees/Apprentices or who do not have the relevant industry experience need to discuss their situation with an assessor to plan a suitable training pathway.

Applicants will need to provide documentary evidence to verify that they meet the pre-requisites:
- Electrical principles
- Occupational Health & Safety/First Aid
- Hand and power tool use
- 600 hours cabling installation experience
Structure
- This course will involve theory, practical and assessment.
Students will need the following
- AS/ACIF S009:2006
- AS/ACIF S008:2006
- Pens/Pencils, coloured highlighters
- Basic hand tools - side cutters, pliers, screwdriver, krone tool
