Trade Learning Scholarship

When you finish your Australian Apprenticeship, you will have a nationally recognised qualification that will take you anywhere in Australia and one that is held in high regard in many overseas countries as well.  The Australian Government provides the Commonwealth Trade Learning Scholarship worth $1,000 over two years to help you on your way.

What is the Commonwealth Trade Learning Scholarship?

The Commonwealth Trade Learning Scholarship is a $1,000 tax-free scholarship for Apprentices who undertake an Australian Apprentice in a trade experiencing a skills shortage.

Am I Eligible?

You may be eligible for the $1,000 Commonwealth Trade Learning Scholarship if:

  • You are an Australian Apprentice employed by a small or medium employer (companies having fewer than 500 employees) or a Group Training Organisation listed on the Group Training National Register;
  • You are training in a Certificate III or IV qualification that will lead to employment in a trade experiencing a skills shortage.

How Will I be Paid the Scholarship Money?

The Scholarship is paid directly to you, the full-time Apprentice, in two tax-free $500 instalments at the end of the first and second years of your Australian Apprenticeship.

For part-time Apprentices, the Scholarship is paid at the end of your second and fourth years.

How Do I Apply?

Your Australian Apprenticeships Centre is contracted by the Australian Government to administer the Commonwealth Trade Learning Scholarship.  You will be able to claim the scholarship payments from your Australian Apprenticeships Centre.

For more information call the Australian Apprenticeships referral line on 13 38 73 or visit the Australian Apprenticeships website at www.australia.gov.au/australianapprenticeships.
